Rocket Project

In my AERO 121 course, my group and I were tasked with creating a hull to attach a model rocket motor to and launch. The hull had to protect an egg during the course of the launch without a parachute. The materials to build the rocket could not exceed $5.

My team and I found a long cardboard roll that we decided would provide enough structural integrity to protect our egg. We opted to build a short rocket to keep the weight down.

To keep our rocket stable we tilted the fins at a slight angle to create a slight spin that would keep the rocket flying straight.

Our group was one of only a few that produced a rocket that launched more that a couple feet off the ground.
